MEXICALI - Mexicali authorities found a canon suspected to be used to launch drugs into the United States around midnight Wednesday, according to a press release.

Authorities received a complaint that people were seen on the highway leading to Tijuana on the west side of the city with a cannon to launch drugs, and when they arrived to the scene, several subjects fled leaving the cannon behind in the bed of a pickup truck.

The vehicle carrying the cannon, an orange Dodge Ram with California license plates, was confiscated. The cannon’s compressor was connected to the car for power, and authorities believe the cannon was capable of launching small packages of drugs weighting a few pounds each. No arrests were mentioned and no more information was readily available.
