BevMo to open El Centro location

June 13, 2013|By JULIO MORALES | Imperial Valley Press Staff Writer/Copy Editor

A BevMo retail store has signed a lease to open at the Plaza at Imperial Valley. The store, which sells a variety of alcoholic beverages as well as other food and beverage items, is expected to open sometime in October.

Last month’s lease signing concludes a lengthy negotiating process that adds another “first class and high quality” retailer to the shopping center on Danenberg Road, said developer Ron Russ, of the Cincinnati, Ohio-based Russ Group Inc.

The store will occupy about 10,000 square feet of space at the Plaza and is expected to start construction on the space soon.

“It’s a tremendous addition to the Valley and will keep people from having to drive elsewhere to do their shopping,” Russ said.

The store’s pending opening brings the Plaza to near operating capacity.

Founded in 1994, BevMo stores have become popular destinations for alcoholic beverages and accessories, with about 135 stores total in California, Arizona and Washington.
